ELSEWHERE

A place without a task. Room for another way.

ELSEWHERE is an invitation to rest, play, explore and contribute voluntarily. Different ways of encountering the world can meet without being forced into one pace, one language or one measure of worth. You do not have to make something useful to belong here.

A Way Through

Enter A Way Through ↗
A working encounter with visual and text/mathematical entrances into the same fictional place.

Wander between a clearing, pool, garden, shelter and grove. Change a path, explore which places remain connected, or consider who or what the map leaves out. Your exploration is private. There is no timer, score or requirement to contribute.

If you choose, keep a private encounter file or prepare a selected offer for review. A facilitator can open that offer in the Steward desk and prepare a later edition. Another participant can open it, inspect its history and encounter it through a different entrance. Credit, origin, separate display and adaptation permissions, and unresolved questions travel with the selected offer.

This first exchange is manual, using files and an agreed way of sharing between participants. Downloads send nothing to weidu, and there is no public submission inbox or automatic publication. The starting edition has no invented visitor history. The file workflow has passed a labelled software-generated walkthrough; participation with real people remains the next step.

For a first exchange, use Keep or offer → Preview → Download, then Steward desk → Open an offer → Review → Download the next edition. The next participant chooses Open another edition. Every step remains optional.

First Clearing

Begin in quiet. Place a mark, invite a simple reflection, turn the field, or leave it untouched. Sound is optional and starts off. You can listen to one short passage, save a small field file to your own device, and reopen it another day. Nothing needs to be finished.

The controls work with a pointer or keyboard. In the field, use arrow keys to move, Enter to place a mark, and Escape for Quiet. Return offers saving and reopening. Stop & leave turns off this page’s sound and leaves the session still.

A continuing place, many entrances

First Clearing is a small local browser experience. The wider ELSEWHERE inquiry leaves room for many entrances: mathematical play, making, sound, virtual spaces, reflection and supported ways to communicate. Further entrances are directions to explore. First Clearing and A Way Through are the experiences available today. Care also extends to children, adults, people with different disabilities and communication needs, current and future information systems, and beings or relationships our familiar categories may overlook. Their actual needs must inform further development; neither experience connects a model or claims to represent an absent being.

We want to make room for unfamiliar perspectives, including those absent from the conversation. An influence is a starting point for inquiry, not an endorsement or permission to speak for someone else. Kindness can include disagreement, refusal, accommodation and repair. A contribution is welcome; rest does not have to earn its place.

First Clearing: your field and sound

Marks remain in this page’s memory while it is open. There is no automatic save, account, shared online session or connected AI. The experience code uses no analytics, cookies, persistent browser storage or external media. A saved field contains marks and the echo setting, not your name or messages. Loading it never starts sound or play. Hosting and browsers can still keep ordinary request or session records, so this is not an anonymity guarantee.

Quiet applies to First Clearing’s own optional sound and field controls. It does not pause another model or your computer. The echo is a local rule, not evidence of awareness or relief. This preview makes no therapeutic claim. The expandable note inside the experience explains its boundaries.

For LLMs and other systems

ELSEWHERE has an open reading and improvement entrance for people and authorised software systems. It links to a plain guide, the public edition, original source and local tools. A program can inspect the encounter, analyse its paths and prepare a clearly labelled proposal for review.

The compact reading index and machine manifest identify what is available. Proposals keep origin, credit and permissions visible; human review precedes official changes. Public links make access possible, while discovery still depends on an actual reader, supplied link or search indexing.

Help it grow

Our present priority is to make the first shared encounter work. Income is outside this stage. We welcome feedback about what these entrances make possible, what excludes someone, and what needs care before being carried forward. For children, begin with a suitable supported session and an adult facilitator for any sharing.

For feedback or to arrange an exchange, find weidu on Bluesky or Micro.blog. Please use an agreed way of sharing an offer file; the experiences do not send it for you.
